Please read this concerning the Harmattan PR1.2 update and this application! This application is seriously flawed and may cause your N9 not to work properly if you UNINSTALL it after upgrading to Harmattan PR1.2.

This application replaces the home screen CSS files with its own, which is a bad idea to begin with. In it's postinst script the application makes a backup copy of the original CSS files and overwrites them with its own. In the prerm script it overwrites the current CSS files with the backed up files.

If you install this application when running PR1.1 it will make a backup copy of the PR1.1 CSS files and replace them with its own. If you then upgrade to PR1.2, the standard PR1.2 CSS files will be installed. If you then uninstall this application, this application will overwrite the standard PR1.2 CSS files with the PR1.1 files it had backed up earlier, causing your system to run PR1.2 with the PR1.1 CSS files, which will not work and will lead to serious problems.

Users: You MUST uninstall this application BEFORE upgrading to PR1.2.

Author: Redesign the application. Do NOT overwrite any files. That's asking for trouble.

Fix: If you've been hit by this problem and the home screen malfunctions on PR1.2, you can restore the original PR1.2 CSS files by installing and uninstalling http://vesuri.jormas.com/restore-home-css/restore-home-css_1.2.0-1_armel.deb - there's no need to keep the package installed. This will overwrite the current CSS files with the official PR1.2 ones. Do not install this on any other Harmattan release or if you don't need to.

Thanks for this info. I seem to have v0.0.3 and have already updated to PR1.2. Wondering if I should update to v0.0.4 or wait that developer provides a newer version. This issue makes me want to get rid of the whole app.

I was affected by this issue and thankfuly Vesuri was able to help me with this fix. Care people, this app can be dangerous as only this package can fix this issue (not even resetting the device fixes the homescreen).

Another way to fix the problem would be to activate developer mode, gain root access to the device and run "apt-get install --reinstall meegotouchhome-nokia libmeegotouchhome0" but that probably isn't very obvious to the end users.

You're right, as end user this resolution is not so obvious. I just want a new version that fixes the problem - and allows me to get rid of this app.

I believe there's another called home screen settings which is slightly more versatile/powerful.

But the original author (last I checked) is MIA, whereas at least this one's present and active.

Quality Value

I googled for continous backgrounds, here's one: http://www.layoutsparks.com/1/87117/lonely-bicycle-continuous-design-31000.html .Cropped to fit n9 and added some filters. All credits to original creator! Grab by edit for N9 here: http://www.mediafire.com/?qdhqvtnndwrfbnt

It's a pity that it makes the phone slow. And not all backgrounds are suitable. Nice to have it though.

I can't get it to work. After I hit apply it doesn't do anything. Good idea though and hopefully it'll work with future updates.

So, where to find nice backgrounds? I'd also like to have three backgrounds that loop seamlessly. There's couple of backgrounds made by afaq from TMO: http://www.mediafire.com/?s43lc5t7efk3sek

Also, be sure to wait when selecting the background. It can take a quite a while to find the images.
